Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23, 2026, made by Infinity Ward, the original creators of Call of Duty. The studio had four years to make it, which ties the longest development time in the series. It ships as a full package: a story campaign, 6v6 multiplayer and a large extraction mode.
- Released October 23, 2026 at $70 / £60, published by Activision Blizzard
- Three parts: a single-player campaign, 6v6 multiplayer and an extraction mode, with multiplayer supporting up to 60 players
- Steam Deck is listed as unsupported
What you get
Infinity Ward is back in charge after Treyarch, Sledgehammer and Raven handled the last few releases, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7. Its four years on this one tie the longest any Call of Duty has been in the works.
Multiplayer is built around 6v6 matches and supports up to 60 players. There's a full campaign, plus an extraction mode big enough that it could pass for a separate game. The arsenal mixes modern and older hardware with a Korean flavour, like the KG-7 Vulkan, a worn wooden bolt-action sniper rifle, and the Warlord, a double-barrel shotgun whose see-through shell tubes empty and refill as you fire.
Before you buy
It's a full-price release at $70 / £60, so check your setup first. Steam Deck isn't supported, which matters if you planned to play it on the handheld.
