Factorio gets its final major update as our player count doubles

Factorio has received update 2.1, the last major update after 14 years of development. Over the past week the number of steamplayti.me players in the game doubled, and more than half of them had never played it here before.
- Our weekly Factorio players went from 10 to about 20
- More than half of this week's players were new to the game on steamplayti.me
- Our busiest Factorio day of the last two weeks was October 24, with 9 players
The last big update
Wube Software has released Factorio 2.1, and it is the final major update for the factory builder. The studio announced in May that 2.1 would be the last big one, two years after the Space Age expansion took factories to four alien planets.
Don't expect new planets, enemies or research trees. 2.1 is about quality of life and polish, much of it aimed at Space Age logistics. Rockets can now carry several different items in one launch, space platforms can trade items with each other in orbit, and a new unloading bay lets inserters pull cargo straight off landing pads onto belts and trains. Biters also get smarter: their expansion groups grow with evolution and they pick more natural spots for new nests. Fluid mixing prevention is back, Quality gets some tweaks, and several big machines get new graphics. Smaller patches may still follow, but this is the end of active development.
Our factories got busier
The week before last, 10 steamplayti.me players ran Factorio. This past week it was about 20, and more than half of them were new to the game on steamplayti.me. October 24, the last day in our data, was the busiest of the fortnight with 9 players.
Total hours barely moved, though: just over 100 hours in each of those two weeks. So more people showed up, but each of them played less on average than the smaller group the week before. On a day they play, a typical player puts in about 2 hours.
Factorio players here have a type, too. More than a third of them also play Deadlock, and The Binding of Isaac and Counter-Strike 2 show up often.
